Writing Services
I specialize in theme-driven prose, snappy verbs, and audience-targeted writing. I enjoy interviewing scientists and translating their significant work into layperson terms. I often write about birds, wildlife, native plant gardening, wilderness, wild rivers, ancient forests, climate change, sustainability, and ultimately–hope for our planet. And yes–I sprinkle in poetry in my blogs, too.
My services include writing interpretive panels, brochures, reports, articles, essays, opinion, and longer publications.
Editing Services
As a longtime writer and now the book author of the award-winning Halcyon Journey: In Search of the Belted Kingfisher, I’ve valued editors who shape, guide, critique, eliminate wordiness, and retain my voice and style. That’s my intent as well. My editing ranges from revising, rewriting, and editing longer publications for environmental organizations (see Million Pollinator Garden Challenge) to short pieces of personal prose.
“ Marina asks questions that help me clarify what my intentions are. She offers “better” verbs and phrases that make the work come alive. As a new writer, I feel as if I am not only perfecting individual essays but, at the same time, learning the craft of writing. ” – Nova Loverro
